Payouts & Tiebreakers 3 weeks left counting this week. Go big or go home, or just sit at your computers
Alright guys… It's time to talk money.
Total Pot: $1,800
Total Rake: $0
As of right now: 5 weekly winners = $250
Winner of MDG: $1,000
2nd Place: 70% of ($1,800 – ($250 assuming no more weekly winners) – $1,000)
3rd Place: 30% of ($1,800 – ($250 assuming no more weekly winners) – $1,000)
The Tiebreaker of Death:
We're paying out 3 spots no matter what. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker will be as follows: The tied combatants will pick roughly 15 conference championship week games against the spread (selected by us of course). The results of that week would decide the winner.
To make it clear, if MDG ended with the standings as they stand, here's how it would play out:
1. Kowal – 62 wins
2. Reco - 62 win
3. S Kirbs – 60 wins
4. Mike P - 60 wins
5. John Z - 60 wins Kowal & Reco would be guaranteed money.
Only 1 of the next 3 would get the 3rd place money. So Kowal & Reco would pick the games against only each other while S Kirbs/Mike/John would be picking against each other. Think about it like a side pot in poker. There is no splitting money. This is the Most Dangerous Game – there can be only one winner, and he's going to walk away with $1,000. Yeah, we said he, there are no women doing this. We take no rake. We're just a group of guys that like sports. Plug our site when you can, and get more people to do this next year. (Are we sounding pathetic?) Forget it, we don't need you. (Wait a minute, yeah we do.) Look we're sorry about what we said earlier.
We're flirting with the idea of doing an NBA playoff version of this – let us know if you'd be interested. (Not that we care. But you know we do.) We are 100% doing a football handicapping contest in the fall. The rules will be different, it won't require daily e-mailing, and hopefully you guys won't be as terrible… The Most Dangerous Game ends two weeks from Sunday. Will you look back, years from now, and question your effort? Will you be asking yourself "What if only I'd done more research?" "What if I had only watched one more game?" Only time will tell.
